Es megis ramutat valamire: ha meg az Internet-hasznalo fehergal-
leros, "la'blo'gato' entellekuelek" koreben is -- ne tessek fol-
szisszenni, magamat is odaszamolom! -- 64% (durvan 3-bol 2) a 
hivok szama, akkor meg inkabb hiheto, hogy az amerikai tarsadalom 
egeszeben ez az arany az folmegy 20-bol 19-re!

Mert: nezzuk csak, mit csinal az, akinek szabad idejet vallasos 
elete teljesen lefoglalja? Vajon Internet-ezik? Ha nincs ra oka,
biztos nem. A kereszteny onkentes segitok es jotekonykodok csa-
patai, akikben Amerika csoppet sem szukolkodik, gondolod, hogy
itt szorikazik a Net-en? Valoszinu, hogy a legelkotelezettebbek
a legkevesbe. Igy a 64%-odbol pont azok hianyoznak, akiket a
legjobban bele kellene szamolnod. Logikus?

gad is szavaztal Magyarorszagrol, mikent ezt barki barhonnan
megteheti, s igy nem biztos, hogy ez az egesz folmeres egyalta-
lan Amerikarol szol.]

Az, hogy az USA lakossaganak 96%-a hivo, egyebkent tenyleg az 
osszes ujsagban lejott a tavasszal. Persze, aki eleve hitetlen, 
mint Te, az ezt miert hinne el, igaz?  ;-)

Kulonben szeretnem ujbol folhivni a figyelmet a legutobbi
Pew jelentesre (par napja irtam rola), amely szerint az Egye-
sult Allamokban minden 7 szavazopolgar kozul 6 kereszteny. Ez
majdnem 86%. Vagyis a 96% hivobol mintegy 10%-ot tesznek ki 
csupan a nem kereszteny hivok, 86%-ot a keresztenyek. Ez min-
denkeppen erdekes, ha osszehasonlitjuk a megfelelo magyar ada-
tokkal.

With meditation, heart rate, respiration and
brain waves slow down, muscles relax and the effects of epinephrine and
other stress-related hormones diminish. Studies have shown that by routinely
eliciting this "relaxation response," 75% of insomniacs begin to sleep
normally, 35% of infertile women become pregnant and 34% of chronic-pain
sufferers reduce their use of painkilling drugs.

In his latest book, Timeless Healing (Scribner), Benson moves beyond the
purely pragmatic use of meditation into the realm of spirituality. He
ventures to say humans are actually engineered for religious faith. Benson
bases this contention on his work with a subgroup of patients who report
that they sense a closeness to God while meditating. In a five-year study of
patients using meditation to battle chronic illnesses, Benson found that
those who claim to feel the intimate presence of a higher power had better
health and more rapid recoveries.

"Our genetic blueprint has made believing in an Infinite Absolute part of
our nature," writes Benson. Evolution has so equipped us, he believes, in
order to offset our uniquely human ability to ponder our own mortality: "To
counter this fundamental angst, humans are also wired for God."
